2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet

The word Porsche is synonymous with power, performance, luxury, speed, anything to do with what we love but cannot afford. The 2011 Turbo S Cabriolet does absolutely nothing to change that, but merely adds to our desires.

This vehicle is given a 3.8 L flat 6 cylinder, twin turbocharged power-plant producing 530 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Where a Corvette or Mustang or even Charger would need 8 cylinders, this vehicle can easily make those numbers with 6 cylinders. Yes there are 2 turbos helping in that matter, but that brings us to our next point, fuel efficiency. This Porsche gets 12.7 L/100 Km in City driving and 8.1 on the Highway, not at all bad for vehicle with as much power as this. Also 3.8 liters is not very big, making this already light aluminum engine even lighter, allowing for great handling, and an overall more balanced ride. Turbos will be used more often as automakers cut their vehicles fuel use as demanded by governments the world over. Getting that extra power when you need it is great, all while using a smaller, smoother, quieter, engine is the way of the future. European cars are the worlds best for a reason. Using 'smaller engines' to produce 'more power' and get 'greater gas milage' all at the same time is no easy feat, but leave it to the Germans, the end result is beautiful.

Nowadays it seems a Porsche is not truly a Porsche unless it is equipped with a PDK Transmission. It is a twin clutch set up that offers seamless shifts, smooth shifts under pressure, faster than you can say "I'm rich!" In this iteration, it gets this beast of a car from 0 to 100 Km/h in 2.9 seconds! And no that is not a typing error. Top speed is 313 Km/h, not that you would ever drive it that fast on public roads - - > INSERT SARCASM HERE < - - sorry officer, see you in court, actually jail. Whats bigger than the cost of bail you may ask? The price of this car. In Canada you will be set back $178 400, to start. It could easily reach $200 000 by the time you finish ticking every box on the options form. If you live in good ole U.S.A. your looking at $171 150, as the starting point. Porsche is doing a great job of "nearly" matching the Canadian and U.S. prices, of course due to the high Canadian dollar, but there is roughy $7000 more work to do.

Continuing the discussion of how dangerously fast this vehicle is, Porsche actually makes any buyer of this vehicle sign a waiver stating basically: you are responsible for whatever trouble takes place regarding this car, including all risks and penalties.

As for luxury of this car, it comes with everything you can imagine including but not limited to: leather, navigation, automatic climate control, every electronic driving aid ever conceived by mankind, you get the picture. This is the type of car you pull out of your garage when taking that hot girl you know on a date. Not your Corvette, Mustang, or joke of a Charger - any of these 3 will let you remain single. Porsches 911 Turbo is a car equally at home on the race track as well as downtown on pot hole filled city streets. No matter how you slice it, this car is worth every penny, just don't forget to remove your license plates before making a "land speed record" on the nearest highway to your house, you will not regret that small effort.
