2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe

BMW has come up with a wonderful little car here. This 1M (not M1 due to a 1979 two seat model that has taken that name) is essentially a smaller, more agile, and lighter version of BMW's 3 Series. The brakes and suspension all come from the 3 Series making it a superb handling vehicle to drive, and the engine is the usual 3.0 inline 6, of course with twin turbos. This engine puts out 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Match those number with a relatively light car weighing in at 1525 kg, plus near 50/50 weight distribution and you've got an extreme vehicle to take car of.

If your interested in the actual performance numbers, look no further, 0 - 100 km/h comes up in 4.9 seconds and top is sadly "electronically limited", to 250 km/h. Still very fast, but I'd like to see what this baby could do without a top speed governor. Not that anyone who buys this car really cares, but it also happens to be very good on gas, at least for a car with this much guts. It averages 11.1 litres per hundred kilometres city driving and 8.3 on the highway. Think about that for a second. Two turbos, over 300 hp & torque, under 5 seconds to reach 100 km/h, and 6 high-revving cylinders, BMW really knows how to engineer a mean machine.

United States pricing for this machine begins at $46 135, while in Canada you will pay $53 600 for the same model. Not a very fair price gap due to the equal Dollar these days, but then again who says you can't go cross border shopping?

This car comes with all the luxury and features you have come to expect from BMW, also offering a civilized day to day ride and race track ready suspension bits and wheels. If you can afford it, you will definitely be pleased with what this car will do for you both on and off the track. Just don't race the guy beside you in an M3 when the stoplight turns green.
